Uninstall Programs Manually in Windows OS

Just because Windows XP has the Add/Remove Programs feature it doesn't mean your application will appear in the list. Furthermore, even if it does appear, it's no guarantee that the uninstall feature will work. When you run across one of these situations the items listed below will help in getting rid of the application. Be aware that these steps may not remove everything associated with the application and can impact other applications on the computer. Have a backup or restore point and use caution.
  • Find the directory for the application and delete all the files in the directory. Delete the directory.
  • Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
  • Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
  • To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present) open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
  • Some applications have Services attached to them. If this is the case, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services, locate and delete the service.
  • In Windows Explorer, navigate to the individual user settings and delete program references. Common places to check would be:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
[Do this for each User ID listed]
C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
[Do this for each User ID listed]
If no entries were found in the previous step and the application launches automatically, navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
and delete the entry.

How to remove quotes from the string usig java

String replaceFirst method comes handy for removing quotes.
^regex - Finds regex that must match at the beginning of the line
regex$ - Finds regex that must match at the end of the line.

so you can use like below,
for eg,

                String withQuotes = "\"get me without quotes\"";
System.out.println("With Quotes="+withQuotes);
System.out.println("Without Quotes="+withQuotes.replaceFirst("^\"", "").replaceFirst("\"$", ""));

It prints,
With Quotes="get me without quotes"
Without Quotes=get me without quotes

Awesome Kite Flying

My Childhood dream came true this sunday. Are you wondering what my childhood dream would be? I tell you. My childhood dream was to fly a kite myself. Today I flied my neighborhood kite to very long distance. The experience was awesome. I always thought how people are flying kite by using very lean thread. today I felt like I was able to control the kite using the same thread. It was unbelievable.

Super excellent experience......I love it. If anyone had a dream like me, please get one kite and try it immediately...(have a great experience)

Super Cgywin

Today I was given to install IBM Tivoli Monitoring Warehouse proxy agent and Summarization and Pruning agent on Linux machine. The info center of ITM says we could not install using command line. I wonder we don't have X11 Gui (kde,gnome,etc)running on linux machine. then how to install. I found that cgywin will help. Cgywin will act as an X-window server. It will provide the platform to run any X-window application. so I installed Cgywin on my windows machine. then I ran the x-window application. In my case to configure the Warehouse Agent, I gave the command
root#./itmcmd manage &

I was so happy to use cgywin.....( Excellent)
Thanks for everyone who developed Cgywin.

Sunday 29 November 2009

This image is taken at 9 AM, if you compare the image taken at in the morning (Previous post), you will find how the mist looks. It is for people those who are not able to wake up early in the morning (I hope lot of people never seen sun rise daily). I love to wake up in the dawn.

You can call me "early bird".

Today unbelievable something interesting happens, whenever I go for shopping, usually I will take bus from the vasanth Nagar Bangalore. Today also I did the same. But this time I saw Ayyappan temple near by. I never seen it before but I walked the same road lot of times. Then I went exactly 8.05 PM. If I had gone 5 mins late, The temple would have been closed. fortunately It is going to be closed. I prayed and sat with eyes closed for five mintues. The most beautiful Harivara Saranam sung by Jesudass was played. I was so deeply lost myself for five mintues. lastly temple was closed. I came back. I made a promise that I will definitely go to the temple whenever I go across the area.
